Established law firm, Tolhurst Fisher, approached Fable&Co. with an interesting & ambitious challenge; to harness the power of modern technology whilst retaining its rich heritage & longstanding reputation.

Founded in 1892 & part of the Essex landscape for over 120 years, their strong local & regional standing, based on honesty, integrity & excellence. True to this, upon conducting an initial brand workshop, we discovered a team of highly-qualified, down-to-earth professionals that are passionate about their vocation & apply a genuine care & sincerity to all they achieve.

Together, we uncovered an opportunity to adapt & embrace new technology by integrating with platforms that offered unprecedented levels of simplicity, efficiency & transparency – technology that is commonly overlooked within this highly traditional sector.

This, combined with their professional, personable approach & esteemed reputation, would set the foundations for new growth & continued success.

Retaining Heritage

We designed a simple, clean monogram, incorporating the ‘T’ & ‘F’ within a perfect circle, reflecting that of an authenticated stamp.

This acknowledged the long-standing heritage of legal traditions, portraying a sense of originality & trust – only putting their name to documents that had been thoroughly scrutinised & validated.

The Identity

The visual identity had to strike a fine balance; needing to demonstrate contemporary aspects as the business evolved, whilst not losing the tradition & heritage associated with the brand.

We created a repeating pattern that utilised the ‘T’ & ‘F’ monogram without the circle outline, giving a versatile yet rigid asset to house content & provide flexibility when applied to various materials or used in conjunction with imagery.

In The Detail

The soft, calming colour palette complemented their personal & down-to-earth approach using a combination of grey’s to demonstrate a sense of corporate professionalism & emphasise the solid foundations of an established business.

The cool blue compliments the pastel peach, capturing the approachable, friendly & personable nature of the team.


We designed a comprehensive stationery suite & produced an array of branded merchandise; ranging from business cards, letterheads, email signatures, & notebooks, through to brochures, umbrellas, press ads & event banners.

The Online Experience

To reflect the new brand identity & proposition, the website needed to provide users with a much more user-friendly, efficient & engaging experience.

The services provided by Tolhurst Fisher were consolidated & articulated in a way that resonated with the vast array of brand audiences – swapping the law jargon for a far more approachable & down-to-earth tone.

Comprehensive bios of each fee earner, with expertise, recent case studies & client testimonials provide instant credibility & showcase their highly talented & qualified team. The website was integrated with case management software to enable clients to track case progress, e-sign documents or contact the assigned solicitor instantly – resulting in improved processes & efficiencies for both the client & the business.

Capturing Professional Moments

We orchestrated a photoshoot to take place in the Southend office; with headshots of fee earners & lifestyle images of employees immersed in their everyday environment the aim.

It was important that the headshots felt natural & evoked a sense of the individual’s personality, whilst the lifestyle images should capture the relaxed, confident & friendly culture inherent throughout the culture at Tolhurst Fisher.

A careful selection of stock imagery complimented these, with a suite of images depicting specific industries, ensuring each felt uncluttered & focused on the detail – much like the approach of Tolhurst Fisher.

Embarking on the rebrand, it was paramount that their impressive reputation & rich heritage was embraced, not lost in the process of modernisation & change.
